1958 Triumph TR5

For Sale:-  1958 Triumph TR5, in a 1958 BSA duplexframe.

This was custom built for vintage moto-cross when I was a member and competitor in the club. It has had little use since then only getting a run in the Albany Vintage and Classic Hillclimb once a year for about 4 years.

The motor was built with all the goodies for a 500cc alloy Triumph by Frank Bevilaqua who sourced the bits from his contacts in England. The gearbox is a Triumph box of the 1958 era.

The BSA frame is a standard BSA duplex frame from a 650cc twin. Has Suzuki front forks and Koni rear shocks. Peter Lawson made the Siamese exhaust. It is equal in power to any 500cc of its class. Has Royal Enfield primary chain cover.

It was inspected and accepted for the Australian championships at Narrogin 2006.

The gearbox has just been repaired from breaking a selector spring at the start of the 2016 November Hillclimb. So it is all ready to race for someone who wants a good pre-sixties bike.

Rod Gilchrist has ridden it once and his comment was ” that is really fun”.

I wish to sell it because I cannot ride dirt bikes anymore. It cost an arm and a leg to build so I am open to offers from a potential buyer. I live at Cuballing so will bring it to a Narrogin race meeting for viewing. I would like to see it go to a member of the Vintage MX club as that is what I built it for.
