A Junior Challenge? Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 June 2008

The Club has been approached by a couple of members who would like to investigate the possibility of running some form of Junior races as covered by the MWA Classic rules at page 152 clause 18.2.3.3 f).

As this would present many new challenges and an increase of work load for the Commitee, Race Officials and Administrators it would need some major parent participation, mainly in the areas of additional flag marshalling and assisting within the administration of this particular class of riding.

Any parent members who are interested in forming a junior class, with riders competing on pre-'75 dirt bikes as outlined within the MA Competion Manual, while maintaining the spirit of competion for which our club is renouned, are invited to register their interest with Ted Lewis by telephone on 0408609546 or by e-mail This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

Subject to sufficient interest and numbers being received, in addition to satisfying MA/MWA quidelines pertaining to this class of riding, it is envisaged to commence this class early next year (all going well).

BUSY BEE/TUNING DAY NARROGIN 1ST AND 2ND MARCH 2008 Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2008

Narrogin can be a cruel place in summer and this weekend proved to be no exception with temperatures hovering around the high 30’s.  The track was as dry as a seized two stroke and the only thing glad to be out there were the Narrogin bull ants.  About 25-30 people had turned up by lunch time and soon most hardy souls were out on the track helping cut firewood.  I decided to walk the track before everyone arrived and found it had held up well over the closed season, only a couple of trees to clear off the track and to my surprise I found that gear lever rubber off my Greeves I lost last year!  I also had the pleasure of walking the track with MWA official Graham Pritchard who carried out his ‘track inspection’.

His report mentioned a few minor house keeping issues, these we shall need to address prior to our next race day on 25th, 26th and 27th April.  A few of us also nutted out a spot for the 40 foot container which should arrive at the track within a couple of weeks.  It will be a relief to store all our possessions away in a more secure spot.

By late afternoon it had cooled off slightly and a few hardy souls took to the track while a few more sensible members sat around telling bigger lies as the bourbon/afternoon progressed.  Gary Johnstone had the tree huggers up in arms as he watered the clubhouse roof to cool the inhabitants down.  I unfortunately had to leave that night so I can’t report on the sore heads the next day or the heroics of our riders, I’ll leave that up to Club Captain Robert.

Many thanks to everybody who pitched in at the busy bee.
