That's gotta hurt!

President Pete's irregular news column....

PRESIDENTIAL UPDATE

Howdy folks

For those who were unable to attend our monthly meetings at the Como Bowling Club or who have not been to a race meet for a while I thought I would keep you up to date with what’s has  been happening within your club.

I must admit taking on the role of President has caught me somewhat by surprise by the amount of work involved in keeping the club running, things change from week to week with new challenges on the horizon.

One of the most important issues to arise in the past few months has been the lease at Dandaloo Park, Narrogin, which I am sure you will all be happy to know that this expires on 30th June 2010, giving us a bit more time up our sleeves to plan for the future.  On the subject of Dandaloo Park, a very successful Busy Bee was held there on the Anzac Day long weekend with about 30 members offering their services to ‘make good’ our beloved track.

A few items had been raised by Motorcycling Australia regarding our Track License one of these being fencing along Wickepin Rd and other our flag points needing attention, all of which were attended to on the Saturday.  Also the long awaited 40 foot container found a resting place 5 metres away from club room and will now be used as a storage facility.

In all the track has held up well after the closed season, after a few times around with the water truck and the grader the track scrubbed up quite well.  There still however remains a few areas that have developed some ‘braking bumps’ that shall require some remedial attention.  While I have the opportunity I would like to thank all those who helped out at the weekend, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of support we get when it’s needed, thank you again.

Moving on then it appears that Club T-Shirts, Polo shirts and Rugby Shirts supplies are running low and the committee is in the process of replenishing stocks and also a club flag has been made to represent the club at the Tassie Nationals (more to follow on Tassie).

Also the club has decided to include another Beverly event this calendar after a successful meet at the beginning of April (date to be confirmed).

Now as none of us are getting any younger your committee has been pro active insuring that we have either an ambulance or a First Aid post to as many meetings as possible this season so in the event of an accident we have the best possible help on hand.

Now this may not affect all members in the club but about 20 of us are heading over to Tasmania for the Tassie VMX Nationals held on the 6, 7 and 8th of June just outside balmy Launceston.  Thanks to our ever dedicated Nick Maxfield who has organized just about the entire trip it should show the rest of OZ WA aren’t afraid to travel.

Back at home our own ‘National’ held at the undulating hills of Wandering will hopefully see Czechoslovakia CZ guru Jiri Starec and ‘The Real’ 250cc World Motocross Champion Jaroslav Falta attend with a possibility of a CZ only race to commemorate these two heroes.  There is also a rumour that a twin shock trial exhibition will be held on the Saturday, watch this space …………………………………

Hopefully that should have wet your appetite for the season ahead.  Don’t forget you are all welcome to our general meetings it sure beats watching Big Brother!!

PS  What’s with the rumour that VMXWA has the biggest group of sidecars that any other club in Australia:  and that another Pre ’68 Chariot has joined the ranks?  Plus I can’t believe that some of those eastern states think that my Greeves/Yamaha is a hoax, NO WAY!
