Better late than never says the webmaster... here's a couple of reports: one from our intrepid Captain and on the following page one from President Pete.
DYBACK RIDGE REPORT
There is an old saying that goes there is always somebody worse off than yourself. I thought I had a problem with my collection of old poop, but there is someone in our club who has gone a step further, he went and bought a race track!...and how lucky are the VMXWA to be given the opportunity to have a ride day at the now famous Dyback Ridge. Snuggly nestled on the Wandering Pingelly Road, Steve has a real jewel in his hands, 500 acres of rolling hills with natural bush and 5 dams. With access to a variety of earthmoving equipment Saint Dyjack went about carving a 1.6 klm track through his property, a true natural terrain track and a spectator haven as the pits provided an elevated position to see all the racing. Lush green grass provided perfect conditions for camping. Steve even had a huge bushfire ready for hardy campers who fancied bracing the sub zero conditions. And would you believe he even erected an outdoor cinema and played some Tassue National footage. I had a gut feeling that this event would be big and I was taken back when over 70 riders had signed on. I can see this event growing in years to become a cult following. With dwindling numbers in our feature races this season it was great to see capacity racing very well supported all day. And didnt the sidecar boys turn it on with 9 chariots strutting their stuff. A perfect setting. A perfect track. A perfect day. On behalf of all our members, Steve, a big thank you!!
