President Pete visits the Bunbury Motocross Track for a sidecar demonstration and solo static display.

He made me wear it….honest!

It was well and truly brought home to me on Saturday why we don’t race in summer, and why you may ask?  It’s to bloody hot!  That’s why!  With temperatures in the high 30’s only mad dogs and sidecars would be found out on the track!

Bill and Mary proudly display their babies.   Phill on the Hills newly acquired Albatross.

Demonstrations started at 4pm with no reprieve from the oppressive heat, 4 chairs were on hand but the Dillon’s triple chariot wouldn’t start the first race.  I even put my hand up to be a victim and ‘swung’ for Phill on the Hill on his newly acquired Ariel/Triumph 3 wheeler.  I would be the first to admit that sidecar racing looks a lot easier that it is, I was rooted after 3 laps.

The Bunbury Motocross club were a  hospitable bunch and made us welcome, hopefully they will allow us to use their track later in the year as per our calendar.

Moderns strut their stuff.   Just a little bit on the dry side.

A special thanks to Bill and Mary Watson for making the effort to bring down a ’65 and ’74 Husky for the static display, and thanks to Bill for bequeathing the ’65 bike to me, very generous old chap.
