Welcome to The Vintage Motocross Club of WA (VMXWA)

VMXWA is the leading body actively promoting Vintage Motocross in Western Australia.  The Club runs a full winter calendar from March through to around October.  The tracks used by the Club include natural terrain and established 70's era tracks, ideally suited to VMX racing. Racing is low-key with the emphasis on restoring, riding and enjoying your 'vintage' machinery.

Introducing the sport to Western Australia in 1995, VMXWA set out to recreate the sights, sounds, smell and camaraderie of the 'golden years on motocross' - the 60's and 70's. The underlying theme in Vintage Motocross is "the spirit of the era". You won't find any modern "obstacles" on a VMX track, but you will find mud, dirt, dust, hills and a group of riders who love the sport and the bikes they ride.

Pre-75 Vintage Motocross

VMXWA is exclusively pre-75 era, so if you own a trail or dirt bike, solo or sidecar built before December 31st 1974, with no more than 7" front wheel travel and 4" rear wheel travel, then it's eligible for vintage motocross with VMXWA.

Want to Know More?

The Club meets every 4th Wednesday of each month at the Como Bowling Club, 99 Hensman Street, South Perth.  Start time for club nights is 8:00pm.

Club contacts are available from this website.

Green Greeves Go-Getter!
Saturday, 02 February 2008

Here it is... whatever it is!

Pete reckons this is a 38-24-36 figure...   Maybe she'd look better on her back with the wheels in the air?

Some said it couldn't be done... some said it shouldn't be done!!

The absolute ultimate in dirt bike pleasure, the best of both worlds (a) one of the most technically advanced frames in its day (b) period lime green tank and guard (c) state of the art suspension front and rear (d) 45 brake horse power on tap,350cc of Torque Induction, twin cylinders running two 28mm Mikuni carburettors WOW what else could a man want?

All that is missing is a name for the Behemoth.I shall be running a competition with the winner awarded a book entitled 'The History Of Greeves' for the best name given to her.The name must include the following in its construction "Yamaha" and  "Greeves".

**Webmaster: How about "Yam-a-greeves-aha!"**

Good luck.  Send your artistic literary efforts to the prez: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

Presidential Plea!!!!
Friday, 07 December 2007

Okay you guys there’s something like 150 VMXWA members out there but as to date not one of you has put your hand up for the all important position of Club Secretary, I really don’t know what you’re all afraid of?  There’s a free crash course on “How to be a perfect Club Secretary” from Mr Tudehope and a free plastic box to carry around all those important documents.

Seriously though we need someone to replace our ‘knackered’ secretary, he’s done a sterling job for the past few years but needs a break and we need a fresh face up there at Club meets.  It really isn’t a big deal, perhaps one of you over 55’s would like to step up to the challenge or even a country member would like to take up the reins.  If you are remotely interested or would like to dob in mate in let me know.  Give the old bugger a break!

President Pete

*Webmasters Note: I can confirm that the old Secretary is as worn out as a filterless XL350 on a dusty Narrogin Sunday *
