Captains Blog

Hi everybody,

Well, they have been and gone (the night series) and by all reports successful.   The riders numbers were a little disappointing, but, those who attended had a really great time and have made mention of having more of the same at a later date.

Now it is time for our race proper program to start. On Sunday, April 30th sees the start of the year with our combined meeting with the classic club at Darkan.  Word has it that a lot of work has been done in the off season so the track will be in tip top shape. To make this a really successful event we need your support.  Richard and his committee are very keen to foster the friendship between the two clubs, so let’s turn out in big numbers to show our support.  If you own a pre 90 bike take it along and have a few extra rides. The program will include plenty of events for pre 75 bikes.

Flaggies are always a problem at any event, so if you have friends going and they have the urge to wave a flag I am sure it would be appreciated.

Cost, VMX members can ride on their VMX membership and just pay the ride fee ($30.00) plus a one day license if required.  Come and camp over Saturday night so as to enjoy some good fellowship with fellow riders.

Sign on will start at 7.00am Sunday.

After making all the arrangements for this event I realized some weeks later that I will be away and can’t attend  (BUGGER) so the captain’s responsibilities will be left to our capable president.

Any more info check out the classic clubs website.

NARROGIN!!!!  Our first event will be on May 21st,  so tune up and get ready so we turn out in big numbers for our first home track run.

REMINDER MA has now banned all tear offs at any track and also helmet cameras – so please do the right thing to save arguments.

Keep in mind the Dandaloo classic on June 3 and 4  – entry forms out soon.

HAPPY RIDING!!!!

Narrogin Night Series 1 Race Report

A race report from President Gary!

Saturday busy bee and First Night Race at the home of vintage motocross Narrogin.

The weather was overcast with drizzling rain as our band of happy workers toiled away cutting wood, removing everything out of the container for the new floor to go in and levelling the ground in front of the canteen for the placement of slabs.

Lighting poles were installed around the shortened track, power leads attached, generators in position to make sure everything was ready for the first night ride.

The small number of riders that attended had a fantastic night of racing with everybody looking forward to the next one on the 1st April 2017.  The nights racing consisted of  A Grade, B Grade, Over 55 and sidecars. A grade had Mike Laurie showing a clean pair of heels to David Latham and Mike Gordon who were having a great tussle for the minor placings.  Jason Dillon riding a little 125 was showing great pace.  B grade had Steve Hanson /Bill Bartell/ and numerous others all putting on a fantastic show of racing.  Over 55’s Mike Laurie once again was giving everybody a riding lesson,  Mike Godbold and Stan Reed were having a great time racing under lights for the minor placings. Sidecars had Gary Johnson and new passenger Nick Ferguson giving the pairing of Sarah and Jason Dillon a lesson in how wide you can make a sidecar so as to make it impossible to pass.

Hope to see bigger numbers at the next night series race.

Night Series 18th March 2017

Hi everyone, welcome to the start of the new Season for 2017.

This year Gary is starting the season with a Night Series at the Narrogin Track.  The first of these will be held on Saturday, 18th March.  It is anticipated that Scrutineering and sign-on will commence about 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.   Rider’s brief at 6.15 p.m. With practice at 6.30 p.m.  Depending on the sun on that day it is hoped to start racing at 7.00 p.m.

Lights etc. have been installed, but if any of you who are intending to attend this night series can bring down with them extra power leads, they would be most welcome.  Gary feels we have sufficient generators for the evening.

This event is open to Club Members.  You can pay membership on the night.

One event licences have gone up in price to $75, but the Club still has some at $60 which we can still use until all are gone.  Normal rider’s fee is $30.

See you there.
