2023 Season Update

Hi Members just a summary on the season so far .
After a great start with the Collie event it was the Classic clubs turn to get their season under way. A little bit disappointing only 9 VMXWA riders but those who rode enjoyed what was a very well prepared track.
I’ve lost count how many times we’ve been out to Paynes Find for busy bees, reason being 120 mm of rain in 2 days destroyed the track work that was done with the help of local Bobcat owner Neil Brande and machinery loaned from Farmers Tim Hazlam and Dean Warbiton.
The work done on the 21st May was a fantastic effort by those who attended considering Neil had all ready been there on Friday for 4 hours leaving the track pristine.
After listening to the members, the general consensuses was that everyone would prefer to race, so May 28 was to be the first race day for the season. It was obvious white line fever is alive and well with a terrific turn out of 29 riders, the car park reminiscent of The old Narrogin days.
Big thanks to Barb (Steward), the energetic starter Andy “The Mullet” Hyland and his offsider Mike “Twiggy” Gordon also all the flaggies. Thanks to Don MGrath for enjoying the sunshine up on the hill. A great day was had by all which means more racing will be on the agenda for future events although we will require far more non-riding officials to make this happen.
I would to thank long time member Nick Maxfield taking time out to help us by getting our newly modified track up to speed for licensing, still more work to done to satisfy MA.
I was sorry to have cancel Northam at this stage due to the track, which was damaged by all the rain, and had not been prepared as they have run out of time which was disappointing for all who planned to attend.
Never mind we will ride this weekend (18/6/23) back at the home of VMX Paynes Find, make sure you’re all there to keep developing this track as it will get better and better with more use. The usual names were out there on the weekend prior to continue the work needed, thanks to Pete Latham, Kevin Clayden and Andy “The Mullet” Hyland well done boys.
Finally, keep pushing, “Vintage Dirt” on the 8th and 9th July. Grab a mate and make that your job to bring someone, anyone, we want as many riders on the MX track, the Vinduro loop or Trials. Don’t forget Show and Shine between 11:00 and 13:00 on Sunday. Lots of interest from The Classic Speedway Association which is fantastic.
The biggest raffle ever run by the VMX WA club $5 a ticket only 200 to be sold. 3 great prizes, drawn at end of show and shine 13:00 pm Sunday 9th July, YOU MUST BE THERE FOR THE DRAW TO WIN ONE OF THE PRIZES !!!!!! Brad Lackey framed MX top signed by the legend. Eric from Perth Husqvarna supplying us with an MX Helmet and Current Western Australian MX1 Champion Charlie Creech will be also supplying a set of MX pants and a matching top.
Sunday Paynes Find 18/6/23 see you there.
Lewy.
